How often do you get a chance to watch a cricket match at a stadium with a big gang?? Well, I got mine with the Chennai Food Guide Gang. And what better match to watch than CSK battling it out with KKR???
After waiting in the queue outside the gate for almost two hours in the scorching heat, the only thing that kept me going was the fact that I was with a bunch of awesome people and some smiling familiar faces.Wading through the crowd, security and finally to the stands, we find empty seats and decide to settle down.As the match progressed, most of us ended up on the floor just for the fun of sitting together and cheering for the team. The best part was our awesome banner that said "Chennai Super Kings ku Whistle Podu CFG Omlette Podu".To top it all off, we won the match in style.
As the name suggests, we were the Chennai Food Guide so there was no way we could've ended the day without Food. Although, we tried our hand at the stalls at the stadium, we decided to go to Lloyd's tea house in Gopalapuram. Now, this is my first visit to the place and I had heard so much about it so I was really really looking forward to it.By the time we got to Lloyd's, some fellow foodies were already waiting for us.Without much adieu, we got a few tables together, sat down and after a while of chitter chatter, decided to order.
I decided to start with an iced tea so ordered 'Rose Petals' iced tea.Few friends ordered Chamomille, Aromatic Zen garden and a few more flavours. Once the orders for drinks were done, without waiting, we dived straight into ordering main course. We ordered chicken lasagna, veg lasagna , chicken club sandwich , roasted chicken sandwich, prawn pasta , barbequeue fingers and a beautifully presented Zucchini dish.
All the dishes were flavoursome, filling and served quickly.I loved my 'Rose Petals' ice tea as it literally tasted like rose petals chilled.. :)
The best part of Lloyd's was the ambiance. The place is so well thought about and decorated neatly. The typical old school feel was just lovely. The colours, the interiors and the display of the varieties of tea was exceptional.Another interesting thing was the little tea timer they place on your table. The tiny hour glass is meant to determine the time taken for the perfect tea to be ready.
On the whole, a lovely experience dining at Lloyd's and I'd definitely go back to try more varieties of tea and the rest of the items on their menu.I wish my phone hadn't died as soon as we got there, missed out on a great opportunity to click some pictures. Next time folks!!!
